Bio

With over 30 years of experience as a certified special education teacher, Ruth Kistner joined the Students’ Rights Team at Timoney Knox in July 2018. Ruth previously worked with children with disabilities and their families in the public schools. She then became a special education program specialist where she provided trainings to assist public school teachers in learning curriculum, developing IEPs and using progress monitoring tools, for students of all ages and disabilities. Ruth worked to ensure that professionals established and properly implemented programs and interventions to meet the individual needs of their students.

Ruth is passionate about advocating for the individual needs of students. As a member of the Students’ Rights team at Timoney Knox, Ruth reviews and analyzes the situations involving the children we represent from an educational perspective and provides input based on best practices in educating children with disabilities. Based on her extensive background in providing effective educational services to children with disabilities, she assesses the quality of IEPs and evaluations and provides direction on how teams can work together to reach their mutual goals to benefit the child. She regularly communicates with the parents we represent regarding educational issues involving their child.

Ruth received a B.S. in Special Education K-12 from the University of Maryland and an M.S. in Elementary Education K-6 from Arcadia. She lives with her husband and three children in Bucks County.
